- Product Description
-
A low flammability and vapor-permeable membrane, for use within framed wall construction as a house wrap. It offers all the characteristics of the current IKO Rubershield rolls, with the added benefit of fire-retardant properties that self-extinguish if ignited, providing a solution in line with part B of the Approved Documents – fire regulations. It is constructed of non-woven polypropylene with a thickness of 0.3mm, a weight of 90g/m², and a size of 1.5m by 50m.

APPLICATION
Fixing to timber/sheathing
Fix IKO Rubershield Fireguard Housewrap with stainless steel staples or clout nails. Fixing should be fixed flush and not stand proud. Fixing should be undertaken at maximum 600mm centers horizontally and at 300mm center vertically. The membrane should be fixed at 150mm center around openings and joints.Fixing to insulation
Where application of the membrane is to rigid insulation boards, this should be undertaken with expanding insulation fixing anchors or thermally broken tube fasteners. In cladding applications battens or metal brackets could be used to fix the membrane.Fixing to brick/block or stone
Where fixing to brick, block, or stone, use a suitable masonry anchor system or masonry fixing with a rubber washer. Fixings should be a maximum 500mm centers.Fixing to cement particle board
Use self-tapping screws through the cement particle board to the support frame, use with rubber washers.Fixing to steel
Fix to steel with an appropriate fixing with rubber washers, spacing maximum 600mm centers. It is essential that the positions of the studs are marked on the face of the breather membrane, usually by tape, to enable fixing of wall ties/ battens.Note: Vapour permeable membranes are not deemed waterproof membranes, and thus should not be used to make buildings water-tight.
