WHAT IS C16 GRADED TIMBER

C16 timber is made from various different types of softwood including pine, fir or cedar as long as it passes the grading process to achieve C16 status. It is ideal for use in many structural applications such as: stud walls, formwork, shuttering floor joists, decking & much more. C16 timber is cheaper in comparison to C24 making it cost effective and ideal if you are looking to save money on your current project!

At SAIMAXX, all of our C16 timber is sourced from the UK.

Please note when using timber, we recommend referring to Span Tables to ensure you are using the correct section size and length for your project.

WHAT IS C24 GRADED TIMBER

C24 timber is a stronger alternative to C16 as it is produced from logs that grow at a slower rate producing a denser grain. This therefore means it is sourced from countries in Europe due to the colder climates forcing slower growth. Typically C24 timber has fewer defects in both characteristics and appearance making it a popular choice for any application where the timber will be visible.

This has therefore made C24 the most popular timber type in the UK over the recent years however, it is more expensive than C16 but ideal for almost any job!

Please note when using timber, we recommend referring to Span Tables to ensure you are using the correct section size and length for your project.
